January 2013 horoscope - Pisces

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 15th March to 13th April or Pisces Ascendants and Moons

Exciting times Pisces – a lot is moving in January and although we’ve seen some progress in December, as 2013 begins, there is no time to rest on your laurels.

North node / Rahu changes signs on 15th January. Rahu moves into the sign of Libra where it will remain for the next 18 months. During this time, many of us are seeking and even craving the best in one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task is now to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign during this time. It’s a time when we can achieve inner balance necessary for us to achieve our goals through partnerships cooperation with others. In Indian astrology, this placement is considered to magnify a passion for beauty, design, harmonious relationships, and social order. Rahu is insatiable and enlarges everything it touches, so some of us may take ‘risks’ and become a bit obsessive in wanting to achieve beautifully balanced, equitable social arrangements. Due to the insatiable nature of the Rahu, balancing multiple relationships, and keeping up a flawless public appearance becomes crucial. For you Pisces, this will be in your 8th house of joint finances, tax, inheritance, your partner’s money and values as well as intimacy. If there are any issues in these areas, your task now is to sort them out and many opportunities will present themselves in the coming months. With Saturn in the same house, this is a time to be more aware of your needs in terms of long-term financial planning until early November 2014. The next two or so years are not such good time for large investments, forcing you to think more about how you share your resources with others – buying, selling, reselling, your partner’s finances will require some restructuring.

However, I feel that because these are long-term processes, the focus really in January for you is on your job, career and life-direction. Although your financial situation will be a focus and may be linked to the job search, it forms more of a backdrop in the bigger picture. For some years now already, who you are as a person, the way you look at yourself and how others see you is changing while your career or entire life direction is undergoing some profound transformation. For some time now, you’ve probably wanted to move into a different direction in terms of your career and purpose. In January, you will be very much focused on progressing in this area and it’s likely you’ll be scouring the job sites to finally find that job that helps you spread your wings. The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 10th house of career offers an opportunity to start afresh, get that promotion or start the process of finding and applying for a new job. Mars is exalted in your 11th house of networks and the global marketplace and it’s an excellent profit-making position. If you are self-employed, you could get a lot more people knocking on your door in January asking for your services.

This new Moon falls in the nakshatra of Uttarashadha (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) and quite simply symbolises victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams.

As the month progresses, things get a lot more social and after focussing on the job for a few weeks, it’s time to have some fun and expand your social network now. Although I feel that these transits in January make you a bit more focused on your financial gains, clarifying what you want to achieve in the future and through whom, it is also a chance for those who are single to meet someone new. The full Moon on 27th January in your 5th house then puts the focus on romance and children. Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us. The January 2013 full Moon is in a nice sextile to supportive Jupiter, a trine with innovative Uranus but also in a square to sobering Saturn. So, if you do suddenly meet someone new, the optimism may be there but Saturn makes sure expectations don’t become unrealistic. And this may not be a bad thing, take your time.

The month then ends with Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 3rd house of communication, siblings and neighbours. This house also rules negotiations so if you are looking for a job, it seems as though the deal will then be finalised in February.

Have a good one!
